PBS Digital Studios has decided to shine the spotlight on the people who create the opening credit sequences for our favorite films and TV shows.
This 6 and a half minute video (produced by: Kornhaber Brown) introduces us to Karen Fong and Peter Frankfurt (“Mad Men” opening, David Fincher’s movie “Seven”), Ben Conrad ( “Zombieland” opening) and Jim Helton (“Blue Valentine” opening).
After watching this video you’ll realize just how much skill and thought goes into a well crafted opening sequence. Far from being an after thought a good opener is an extremely ambitious project.
While I’d never thought about it before, opening credits do a great job of setting the tone and feel for the movie that follows. (The “Catch Me If You Can” opening immediately springs to mind).
