Rivers and Homes

This is a new video for the J.Viewz’s song “Rivers and Homes”, from the album of the same name. J. Viewz is described as a multi-genre project from electronic music producer Jonathan Dagan. This video marks another partnership between Dagan and director Shelly Carmel (who has also directed the video for the J. Viewz song “Salty Air”).

Carmel filmed the video portion primarily in upstate New York. Photographer Eran Amir created the stop motion portion using 2000 printed frames and 300 fans during a J. Viewz tour in Israel earlier this year. The result is a scene which unfolds through fan held pictures without any  “computer fakery”. The fan interaction doesn’t stop there either. Fans which spot themselves in the video are invited to tag themselves.

“This track has a certain sense of ‘togetherness’” says Dagan “and when I stumbled upon Eran’s technique I realized that it would be perfect to sort of project a video through its likely audience. We were looking for a way to create a video that isn’t “one-sided”, so that was our way to offer an ‘unfinished version’ to our fans and have them leave a personal mark. We also developed this tagging engine where people can comment on separated frames, dedicating their frame or whatever, treating it as their own”

The album packaging for “Rivers and Homes” which is described as a “visual diary” of the fan funded process that helped create the album, was nominated for a Grammy this year.

Enjoy.
