Though the idea of a barbeque restaurant doesn’t often conjure images of a Zen oasis, The Golucci International Design group has managed to imbue the Yakiniku Master Restaurant with an amped up Zen style. The Shanghai restaurant was decorated with a modern, yet familiar aesthetic in mind, with the aim of combining the traditional style of Shanghai and a hint of Japanese Zen, with an updated, modern feeling. The designers describe the aesthetic as “comfortable and elegant,” while still maintaining “the atmosphere of culture”. The room follows a simple structure with clean lines and textural accents, such as wooden lattice work and patches of pebbles on the floor to provide interest.
